Here’s the thing I wish someone had said to me earlier:
You can love what you do, be good at it, get paid for it…and still feel utterly uninspired by your own content.
It’s not a crisis. It’s just... fatigue.
The fog rolls in, quietly. Your ideas start to feel recycled. Your posts feel more like homework. You feel like you have nothing new to say. Or you’re saying too much. You’re basically BORED. You have bored yourself.
And then you think “Is that it? Have I lost it?”
Spoiler: you haven’t.
You’re just in a season of content overload. That’s what happened to me.
This is usually the moment I give others the Pep Talk: KEEP SHOWING UP!! CONSISTENCY IS QUEEN!!
And to an extent, it’s true.
But there’s a difference between being consistent and being compulsive.
And if you’ve ever posted something just to “stay visible” then you know you have just crossed the line to “dialing it in” - doing it for the sake of doing it, and burning yourself out in between.
But this is your gentle permission slip to pause.
(Not disappear. Just… pause.)
This is: “letting your content breathe.”
And also maybe you.
Letting it sit in the draft folder for a day or two.
Being still, being silent, being centred.
Letting your brain do something wild like… reflect.
Because here’s what I’ve seen - again and again - with myself and with people I work with and mentor:
The content that hits the hardest rarely comes from pushing. From automation. From winging it. From not overthinking (don’t get me wrong, that stuff is important too) But when you’re feeling bored and burned out, the content that lands is the content with impact. With intention. It comes from presence. From moments of clarity. From being actually connected to what you’re saying. And sometimes, you need to take a pause to do that.
When you’re constantly posting just to post?
You’re not connected - you’re just noisy.
So if you’re in that weird, restless, I don’t-know-what-to-talk-about period
Try this instead:
Take the pressure off. Just stop. Step away from the keyboard. One week won’t break your brand.
Read something inspiring. Not marketing content. Actual writing. Get out of your lane to feed your lane.
Go back to what you wanted to say - the things you are passionate about, the things that spark joy!
Get out - get out and about - go to events, exhibitions, meet-ups, wander around the city…see what starts firing up your subconscious.
Draft something and don’t post it. Let it sit. Re-read it later. See if it still feels true.
And if nothing comes?
That’s information too. Sometimes it’s not about the content. Sometimes you’re just... tired. Really bloody tired. And in my mind, that is not failure. It’s a sign. A sign you shouldn’t ignore.
It might be time to take a proper step back or step away. Your mind, body and soul need it. And that is so important. All you need to do is let us know you might be stepping back for a bit. Then take your break. Embrace it. Lean into it. And come back when you’re ready. I’ll still be here waiting!
One thing I have observed over the last year that really strikes a chord.
Your audience doesn’t need more from you.
They just need something real.
So breathe. Reflect. Refill.
Then come back with something that actually feels like real again. And this is what I’m now trying to do.
Thinking of turning this into a little audio note too — would you listen? Or do you prefer reading? First piece I’m back with has no imagery too - just experimenting!

Thank you, Jennie, for such a beautiful post this morning — every word truly resonated with me. A while ago, I made the decision to take the pressure off my shoulders when it comes to posting regularly, and it’s been so freeing. Now, I post when I feel inspired. Some weeks I’m more active, others I’m completely quiet — sometimes because I’m genuinely busy and there’s no time to create content, and that’s OK. I’ve realised that the people who care will always be there to support you. In my case, “less is more” really holds true, because when I do share something, it’s from the heart and with purpose. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts — I really enjoyed reading this piece! 🧡
